The Golden Ratio is a special number that equals about 1.618 it appears a lot in Art, Geometry and Architecture. If you divide a line so that the longer part is divided by the smaller part is equal to the whole length divided by the longer part. If you divide 61.81 by 38.18 it equals 1.618 the same for if you divide 100 by 61.81 it equals 1.618 approximately. You can make a Golden Rectangle by using the Golden Ratio first make a square that is "1" then put a dot in the middle. Then from there on you must make a line which is the square root of 5 plus 1. divided by 2. Connecting from the point to the square's corner, turn the line so it goes horizontally then connect and you have a rectangle which uses the Golden Ratio!

There is a simple formula for the rectangle. If the width is "1" the length will be external image golden-ratio-formula.pngthe square root of 5 is approximately 2.236068 so then you have to add 2.236068 with 1 to make 3.236068 then you divide it by 2 to get 1.618034.The Golden Ratio is a irrational number. It is a number that cannot be written in the simplest form in. PI is a famous irrational number that goes on forever and ever without stopping there is also another one called Euler's number which also goes on forever. There are square roots that are a irrational number one of them is 99 but there are square roots like 4 which is a rational number . The Fibonacci sequences ratio is close to the Golden Ratio. The Fibonacci Sequence is when you add a number with a number before it to make the next one like for example 0+1=1 or 1+1=2. The bigger pair of Fibonacci numbers it gets closer to the approximate number of the Golden Ratio. You can use 233 and 377 and divide them to get something close to the Golden Ratio so that's a pretty neat trick. And this is what the Golden Ratio is and how you can get it.
